Hossein Shirzad, the Agriculture Jahad deputy minister and managing director of the Central Organization for Rural Cooperatives of Iran (CORC) said the recent strategic plan sketched out by CORC, has detected 1100 stagnant rural and agricultural cooperatives nationwide.

"The official figures resulted from the above-mentioned plan show that economic stagnation has occurred by the financial, legal, socio-economic and administrative challenges. According to Act of Cooperatives (Approved in 1972) and Statute of the cooperatives, many of these stagnant cooperatives are subjected to dissolution", Shirzad asserted.

According to the laid down Law, the stagnant cooperatives have been categorized into seven distinct groups, including the only registered societies with no initial economic activity, the cooperatives that has stopped after one year's boom with no justified excuse, the cooperatives that their economic activity was limited in a mere short period, the societies which face with membership depletion, the stagnant cooperative due to capital depletion and finally the cooperatives that became dissolved because of the decision of Extraordinary General assembly.

" Blocking the wastage of socio-economic resource and hindering the misfeasance is among significant goals to be realized through implementing this strategic plan," deputy minister noted.
